5 Tips For Boosting Your Immune System
There’s nothing quite like a pandemic to make you realise the importance of immunity. As we age, it gets tougher to keep our immune system in fighting shape. This is because immunity is a lot like other processes in the body including circulation and digestion. These get a little more sluggish with passing years, which means that we need to do more to keep the immune system strong. Luckily, there are several things you can do to boost yours.
1. Stay active
Not only is exercise great for keeping us in physical shape but it keeps your immune system in peak condition too. This is because regular exercise promotes the rapid circulation of antibodies within the body, helping them detect and fight bugs that they come across much faster. Then there’s the fact that it lowers your stress hormones. This, in turn, reduces your chances of getting run down and falling ill.
2. Manage stress correctly
Whilst we’re on the topic of stress, did you know that there’s a strong link between mental health and immunity? When you’re feeling stressed or anxious, your body releases stress hormones that actively suppress your immune system. It’s why when you’re run down you tend to get the flu. Stress also makes the body produce cytokines, small molecules that trigger the body’s inflammatory response. Dealing with stress is totally up to you, though. This could be in the form of exercise, meditation, a digital detox or even a nap. Find what works and stick to it.
3. Your diet is vital
Studies have shown that 80% of your immunity starts in your gut. This makes prioritising gut health a must, with healthy eating and even a daily collagen supplement. Make sure you’re enjoying a balanced diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and whole grains. That way, you can ensure that you get enough vitamins, minerals and antioxidants from the foods you eat. Limiting sugar and processed foods can only benefit you as well. This is because these tend to create inflammation in the body, which we know can harm immunity.
4. Get enough sleep
If you had to think of your immune system the same way you would a laptop, overuse leads to overheating. It’s why we need sleep to recharge our internal batteries and give those important bodily systems a chance to reboot. A lack of sleep leads to stress and the hormone cortisol, which we know compromises immunity. Aim for 8 hours if you can and if you can’t, make the hours you are getting count.
5. Make supplementation easy
There’s no use in purchasing ten different supplements that you struggle to take in a single sitting each day. By choosing options that incorporate a range of vitamins, minerals and nutrients, you’ll be more likely to take them and get their true benefits. Motherkind Immune Booster is an example of this. With a one-of-a-kind blend that’s packed with vitamin B12, Zinc, 1000mg of vitamins C, probiotics, fulvic acid, CircuWIN® and Wellmune®, you get a host of benefits from every serving.
